The Spanish government has identified 1,527 unaccompanied minor migrants in Ceuta and is actively working with Moroccan authorities to facilitate their return to their families. Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Félix Bolaños, confirmed the ongoing bilateral efforts regarding these minors.

Simultaneously, local leadership in the North African autonomous cities has pressed Madrid for broader action regarding migration. Ceuta's president, Juan Jesús Vivas, urged the central government to accelerate the return of approximately 10,000 migrants remaining in the city following a border assault and demanded an immediate reinforcement of the border. Meanwhile, Melilla's president, Juan José Imbroda, called on the government to seize the opportunity presented by Morocco's recent claims for the return of its minors to open formal negotiations.
