(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Menara Merdeka 118 has been officially renamed Menara Merdeka Maybank to reflect Maybank’s presence at the 118-storey tower.Maybank relocated its headquarters to Menara Merdeka 118 in May after becoming the anchor tenant of the tower, the second tallest building in the world.In a statement today, Maybank also announced that its former headquarters on Jalan Tun Perak, previously known as Menara Maybank, has been renamed Menara Tun Perak.Both name changes took effect today.The bank occupies 33 floors of Menara Merdeka Maybank, housing about 7,000 employees through a dedicated entrance for staff, customers and visitors.Several subsidiaries, including Maybank Islamic Bhd and Maybank Investment Bank Bhd, are also relocating to the new headquarters in stages.The tower is owned by PNB through its wholly-owned subsidiary, PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd.The tower forms the centrepiece of the Merdeka 118 mixed-use development, which includes office space, retail outlets, a hotel and an observation deck.
