Mexico faces battle against Sargassum

Mexico is currently engaged in an ongoing effort to mitigate the impact of sargassum seaweed invading its Caribbean coastline. The influx of the algae has significantly altered the region's historically clear turquoise waters, creating thick and malodorous accumulations along the shorelines of major tourist destinations.
