Michelle Bachelet exits UN chief race after low poll support

Former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has ended her bid to become the next leader of the United Nations. Her withdrawal from the race follows low levels of public opinion poll support.

Had she been successful, Bachelet's candidacy would have marked a historic milestone as the first time a woman was selected to lead the international organization.
