The Ministry of Agriculture repealed the APPAs in eight municipalities of La Guajira and eliminated restrictions on the development of rural lands in the region

On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced the repeal of Food Production Areas (APPA) across eight municipalities located in the southern region of La Guajira.

Alongside the repeal of the APPA designation, the measure eliminates existing restrictions governing the development of rural lands within the affected region.
