Defense Minister Rafael Belaúnde announced a new security strategy on Sunday, August 30, involving the deployment of the Armed Forces to establish a perimeter control at five penitentiary facilities. This initiative aims to prevent the entry of prohibited items, including cellular phones, weapons, SIM cards, and narcotics, by reinforcing access points and security protocols.

The operation will integrate military personnel into the government's broader security framework. To support this objective, the plan includes the implementation of specialized equipment such as scanners and detectors, alongside the establishment of checkpoints to ensure stricter oversight of all individuals and goods entering the selected facilities.
