The Ministry of Agriculture rejected Abelardo de la Espriella's announcement to repeal the APPAs: "It would represent a step backwards"

Abelardo de la Espriella, identified as president-elect, generated controversy by instructing his designated minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Indalecio Dangond, to repeal the Áreas de Protección para la Producción de Alimentos (Appa).

In response to the announcement, the Ministry of Agriculture formally rejected the plan. The ministry stated that repealing the Appa measures would represent a step backward for the agricultural sector.
