Egypt calls for tackling the conflict in Palestine "at its root": "It's not about uprooting a people from their land"

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbuly addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Friday to voice his country's firm opposition to the displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Madbuly emphasized that a long-term resolution to the conflict must address the root causes rather than forcing the relocation of the Palestinian population from their ancestral lands.

Separately, an international mission of social organizations and human rights defenders reported on a pattern of territorial dispossession and environmental damage affecting indigenous communities in Guatemala. The findings were presented publicly in Guatemala City on the same day.
