Modern warfare increasingly relies on smart, autonomous weapons designed to disable an adversary’s ability to retaliate. India’s Operation Sindoor in May 2025 reflected this logic, beginning with strikes on terror infrastructure and expanding to Pakistani military assets such as radar sites, airbases and command centres. Even temporary damage to runways or radars can create operational gaps, enabling follow-on strikes.
Launch platforms are critical: India fields BrahMos missiles from land, sea and modified Su-30MKIs, while Rafales carry SCALP missiles. To expand salvo capacity, the US developed Rapid Dragon, a palletised missile system for cargo aircraft, now evolving into Dragon Cart. Brazil’s C-390 project with Anduril explores similar concepts.
Such systems could complement fighters by turning transports into “missile trucks,” boosting strike volume.
