Mixed doubles head coach Nova leaves BAM

(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: National mixed doubles head coach Nova Widianto, who guided Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei to become Malaysia's first mixed doubles world champions last year, will end his tenure tomorrow.The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) said Nova, who joined the coaching team in 2023, will return to Indonesia.“Under his guidance, Malaysia celebrated a historic milestone when Tang Jie-Ee Wei became the nation's first-ever mixed doubles world champions in 2025,” said BAM in a Facebook post.Nova thanked BAM for giving him the opportunity to be part of the Malaysian badminton family.“It has been a privilege to work with the players, coaches and support staff. I am grateful for the support I have received throughout my time in Malaysia.

I wish everyone at BAM continued success in the future,” the statement quoted him as saying.BAM president Tengku Zafrul Aziz said Nova served with dedication and professionalism, and his contribution to the mixed doubles programme had been significant.“On behalf of BAM, I thank coach Nova for his service and wish him and his family success and happiness as they begin their next chapter in Indonesia,” he said.
