Mob hit? Las Vegas police plan to release the ID of a man found in a barrel in Lake Mead

Las Vegas police are scheduled to publicly reveal the identity of a man whose body was discovered inside a metal barrel at Lake Mead. The remains were originally found by boaters in 2022 as receding water levels at the reservoir exposed the grim contents.

The high-profile discovery quickly drew widespread public attention, evoking memories of Las Vegas's historical mob era. Law enforcement officials anticipate that Thursday's announcement will finally resolve the identity of the victim and shed light on the long-standing mystery surrounding the case.
