More CDP prefectural chapters oppose merger into CRA

World 1 source 1 country 🔦 Under-reported 9m ago

A majority of responding prefectural chapters of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDP) have expressed opposition to a proposed merger with the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (Rengo), known as the CRA. According to a survey of senior prefectural chapter officials conducted earlier in July, 15 chapters opposed the merger plan, significantly outnumbering the seven chapters that indicated support.

The survey results also showed that a substantial portion of the party's regional infrastructure remained non-committal on the issue, with 25 prefectural chapters choosing not to answer. The division among regional chapters highlights internal friction within the CDP regarding the potential consolidation with the labor federation.
