Morena has acknowledged the participation of its members in a recent water protest while defending their presence at the demonstration, stating that they attended purely in their capacity as affected citizens. Joselyn Hernández Sánchez, the party's Secretary of Communication, maintained that political militants possess the same fundamental right to protest as any other citizen.

At the same time, the party leadership formally denied having issued an institutional call or mobilization order for the event. The clarification addresses public debate surrounding the political affiliation of attendees at the water rights march.
