World 1 source 1 country 41m ago

By Steve Oko The Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, has directed the immediate refund of school fees paid by students who later benefited from the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme. Akanwa gave the directive during the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Students’ Union Government (SUG), where she disclosed that the university’s Bursar had been instructed to commence the refund process for all eligible students.

She explained that the decision was aimed at ensuring that students who paid their fees before receiving the NELFUND loan were not denied the benefits of the government’s education financing initiative. The Vice-Chancellor also urged students to complete their course registration promptly upon resumption for the 2026/2027 academic session, stressing that early registration would enable the university to commence academic activities on schedule. She further charged the newly inaugurated SUG executives to provide responsible, inclusive and purposeful leadership while working with the university management to sustain peace, improve student welfare and promote a conducive learning environment.
