The Public Prosecutor's Office has opted to negotiate in almost all corruption cases

Over the past five years, the Public Ministry in the Dominican Republic has chosen to negotiate plea deals with defendants in nearly all administrative corruption cases brought before the courts.

While this judicial practice has faced questioning from various sectors within society, it continues to be utilized by the primary actors within the national justice system as a standard approach to handling major corruption prosecutions.
