MTV VMAs Begin on Time in L.A., But Football Delays the Start of the Show on TV

The MTV Video Music Awards began on time at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, featuring performances by Madonna and Charli XCX for the live audience. However, the television broadcast on MTV and CBS was delayed on Sunday evening.

The broadcast delay was caused by an NFL game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Dallas Cowboys that extended past the scheduled 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT start time of the awards show.
