One of the beluga whales that was transferred from a zoo in Canada to the Oceanogràfic in Valencia has died: “It is a particularly difficult moment for everyone”

Jelly Bean, one of two beluga whales recently relocated from Marineland Canada to the Oceanogràfic de Valencia, has died. The animal passed away this Friday, shortly after its arrival in Spain at the end of August. Professionals at the Oceanogràfic expressed deep regret regarding the loss, describing the situation as a difficult time for the institution.

The transfer of the two belugas had been a significant logistical operation aimed at relocating the animals from the Canadian facility. The death marks a sudden end to the transition process for the whale, which had been under the care of the Valencia-based aquarium staff following its international transport.
