Twelve people die and dozens more are missing after a boat sinks in Lake Kivu

At least twelve people have died and dozens remain missing following the sinking of a boat on Lake Kivu in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Local authorities have confirmed the incident and are currently managing the search and rescue operations for those unaccounted for.

Separately, in an unrelated event, severe flooding in the Dawei district of Myanmar's Tanintharyi region has resulted in 13 confirmed deaths and 30 missing persons. These casualties occurred over a 72-hour period in the southern region bordering Thailand.
