Neonatal deaths account for 80% of infant deaths

The Dominican Republic Ministry of Public Health reported that neonatal deaths account for 80% of all infant fatalities recorded in the country through August 15. According to the epidemiological bulletin for week 32, there have been 1,131 total infant deaths, with 911 of those cases involving neonates. This data highlights the significant proportion of infant mortality occurring within the first 28 days of life.
