Awajún women have formally expressed their rejection and criticism of statements made by government ministers regarding sexual violence against girls and adolescents in schools and shelters located in Condorcanqui.

The ministers of Education and of the Women and Vulnerable Populations faced backlash after appearing to link the widespread sexual violence against minors in the region to local cultural practices.
