KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man who was being sought in connection with a murder on Wednesday, was shot dead by the police on Waterloo Road in Rollington Town, east Kingston, on Friday morning. The deceased, 26-year-old Marko German, otherwise called ‘Shella’, was reportedly one of two triggermen in the fatal shooting of Daniel Walsh on Rashford Avenue in the community. Police said Walsh's killing was a reprisal for an unreported shooting which occurred on First Avenue a day before.

One of German’s Rollington Town Gang members was injured in that incident. German was shot dead after he allegedly pointed an illegal firearm at the police. Reports reaching Observer Online indicated that around 3:35 am, the police were conducting an operation under a search warrant.

Upon breaching the grille to a premises, loud shuffling was heard inside. Access was gained, and German was seen with a firearm in his hand, the police said. He allegedly pointed it at the police.

According to the police, lawmen discharged their firearms to avoid being shot, and German fell to the ground while still holding onto his weapon. The gun was discovered to be a Smith & Wesson Springfield with five .40 rounds, the police said. The injured man was assisted by the police and transported to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The police said investigations have unearthed that German was involved in scamming activities and contract killings. German was one of two men killed by the police in separate operations on Friday morning. In another incident, Marlon ‘Brando’ Wayne was shot dead on Robert Close in Kingston 10.

A firearm was reportedly seized in that incident.
