National targets public safety with new transport police proposal

The New Zealand National Party has announced a public safety proposal to establish a dedicated Auckland Transport Police Team if it is re-elected.

Under the proposed initiative, the initial deployment in Auckland would serve as a pilot program. If the project proves successful during this trial phase, the party plans to roll out the dedicated transport police model nationally.
