Mexico sends first tons of humanitarian aid to Colombia after request from the government of Abelardo de la Espriella

Following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on Monday, international aid has begun arriving from regional governments. On Wednesday, August 12, Mexico initiated the shipment of 58.5 tons of humanitarian aid in response to a formal request from the Colombian government, as confirmed by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Concurrently, El Salvador has mobilized international support under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, who announced the dispatch of a total committed amount of 100 tons of aid. The initial phase of this effort included the arrival and departure of multiple shipments carrying between 50 and 51 tons of humanitarian supplies to assist Colombia with emergency relief operations.
