Nearly 467,000 SNS24 callers waited more than half an hour in 2025

In 2025, nearly 467,000 callers to Portugal’s SNS24 health line experienced wait times exceeding 30 minutes to have their calls answered.

The delays occurred against the backdrop of government policy increasingly directing patients away from hospital emergency departments and toward the SNS24 telephone service.
