The Dalai Lama sent his condolences to the families of those who died in the floods between Tibet and Nepal: “I pray for everyone.”

Devastating floods and flash floods, triggered by a massive overflow and the strong rise of the Bhotekoshi river following a glacier collapse in a mountainous northern district near the border between Nepal and Tibet (China), have left at least 165 people dead and hundreds missing. Authorities, including the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, have recovered bodies across heavily impacted areas such as Chitwan, Dhading, and Nawalparasi East, while rescue and recovery efforts continue amid hundreds of reported disappearances.

In response to the disaster, the Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, issued a public statement expressing solidarity with the affected families and stating that he prays for all those who have lost their lives in the region.
