Nepal endured months of political upheaval. Devastating floods are now testing its new government

Following months of political instability, Nepal is facing a humanitarian and infrastructure crisis caused by severe flash floods that occurred two weeks ago. The deluge impacted the nation's mountainous regions and river valleys, destroying approximately 7,500 homes and leaving an additional 20,000 in need of reconstruction.

The disaster has significantly compromised the country's energy infrastructure, with at least 12 hydropower projects sustaining damage.
