Nepal flood death toll rises to 1,287, with 5,083 missing

Devastating floods occurring along the China-Nepal border have resulted in a significant loss of life and widespread disappearances. According to disaster authorities, at least 1,287 people have been confirmed dead in Nepal, with 5,083 individuals currently reported missing. The disaster, which originated from a glacial and mountain collapse on August 26, has impacted both nations, with additional casualties reported in Tibet.

Chinese state media reports indicate that 21 people have died and 541 remain missing in the Tibet region. When combined with the figures from Nepal, the total death toll from the event has reached 1,308. Rescue operations remain ongoing, as evidenced by efforts to reach workers trapped within infrastructure projects such as the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project in the Rasuwa district.
