Netanyahu uses Likud’s first reserved slot for businessman who called Trump ‘morally corrupt'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed businessman Oren Dobronsky to the first reserved slot on the Likud party list for the upcoming election. The appointment has drawn attention following the discovery of past social media posts in which Dobronsky described former U.S. President Donald Trump as a morally corrupt individual. The comments were originally made in response to policy disagreements regarding an Iran memorandum of understanding.

In response to the surfacing of these remarks, Dobronsky has sought to clarify his position, describing the former U.S. president as Israel's greatest friend in the White House. The appointment marks a notable development in the party's candidate selection process, which also includes the inclusion of the party’s first-ever Haredi member of Knesset.
