Netflix has officially ordered a new television series adaptation of Larry McMurtry's novel "Lonesome Dove." The project is being developed by co-showrunners Zoe Kazan and Jeb Stuart, who previously worked together on "East of Eden."

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the streaming platform. This new adaptation follows a previous iteration of the story, a critically acclaimed and award-winning CBS miniseries that aired in 1989 and starred Robert Duvall.
