The National Identification Authority (NIA) has extended its Ghana Card replacement service to selected service centres across the country, alongside a new online application option for Ghanaians living abroad. The Executive Secretary of the Authority, Wisdom Koku Deku, announced the development in a Facebook post on Monday, October 19, 2026, confirming that applicants could now access the replacement service through the NIA’s online portal and designated centres. The service is available at all four operational Prestige 24/7 Centres in Labone, Sakumono, Bantama and Suame.
The Authority says the Amakom Prestige 24/7 Centre will begin offering the service soon. Applicants who prefer to visit a Premium Centre can also access the replacement service through the online portal at register.nia.gov.gh. The online service also allows Ghanaians living in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Denmark to apply for replacement Ghana Cards without travelling to Ghana.
The expansion is expected to provide additional options for applicants seeking replacement cards, particularly Ghanaians living outside the country. Mr Deku further indicated that an update service would be added to the portal soon, suggesting that the NIA intends to expand the range of services available through its digital platform. The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient and accessible services to the public under its slogan, “Providing Future Solutions Now.”
