Nicola Coughlan, Matt Lucas, Hugh Bonneville and More Back Campaign Against AI Voice Cloning: ‘An Existential Threat to Our Entire Industry’

Approximately 80 actors, including Nicola Coughlan, Matt Lucas, Hugh Bonneville, and Siobhan McSweeney, have signed an open letter to British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to launch the 'Save Our Voices Now' campaign. The initiative seeks legislative protections against the unauthorized use of artificial intelligence to clone human voices, which the participants characterize as an existential threat to the entertainment industry.

The campaign aims to secure legal safeguards regarding voice ownership and control in response to the rapid advancement of AI technology. By addressing the Prime Minister directly, the signatories are advocating for government intervention to establish regulations that prevent the exploitation of performers' vocal identities.
