Nigeria: Deregistration of ADC, Others Was Judicial Rascality - a-Court

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has vacated a previous judgment that ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and four other political parties. The appellate court overturned the decision, which had been based on allegations that the parties failed to meet constitutional requirements for continued operation.

In its ruling, the Court of Appeal characterized the initial decision by Justice Peter Lifu as an act of judicial rascality. By setting aside the lower court's directive, the appellate panel has effectively blocked the immediate deregistration of the affected political organizations, maintaining their status within the Nigerian electoral framework.
