Nigeria: NAPTIP Says 58% of Survivors Fail to Seek Help After Sexual Violence

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Nigeria has reported that 58 percent of sexual violence survivors in the country do not seek professional help following their experiences. This data highlights significant barriers to reporting and accessing support services for victims of gender-based violence.

In addition to these findings, NAPTIP noted that 21 percent of Nigerian women between the ages of 15 and 49 have reported experiencing physical or sexual violence. These statistics underscore the prevalence of violence against women and the ongoing challenges in addressing the needs of survivors within the nation.
