Nigerian president hails 'largest ever' single-day rescue as 308 abductees freed in country's north

The Nigerian president announced the rescue of at least 308 individuals who had been abducted during various attacks in the northern region of the country. This operation marks the largest single-day rescue effort reported by the government to date. The announcement was made on Wednesday in Abuja.

Among those recovered are 163 people who were kidnapped from the Woro community in the Kaiama area of Kwara state during an incident in February. Authorities have characterized the event as a significant development in ongoing efforts to address security challenges in the northern part of Nigeria.
