‘No adverse’ findings from review into Aughinish Alumina, but lack of internal trade data within Russia

A government review into Aughinish Alumina has concluded with no adverse findings regarding allegations that the company’s exports were being supplied to Russian arms factories. Minister Peter Burke stated that while the investigation examined claims that the facility was supporting the Russian war effort, the review did not uncover evidence to substantiate these concerns.

The investigation faced limitations due to a lack of verifiable internal trade data within Russia, which hindered the ability to fully corroborate the movement of materials once they reached their destination. Consequently, the government has decided that the full results of the investigation will not be made public.
