Not just senior citizens: Government entrusts Pension 65 with payments for families hit by El Niño

The government has authorized the National Solidarity Assistance Program, Pension 65, to manage financial disbursements for families and individuals affected by emergencies nationwide. The measure was enacted through Supreme Decree Nº 005-2026-MIDIS, which expands the program's operational scope beyond its traditional demographic of older adults to include populations impacted by the El Niño phenomenon.

Separately, in an unrelated regional development, the Government of Honduras and collective taxi representatives reached an agreement to prevent fare increases in the capital. This accord was finalized during a dialogue table involving the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Transport (SIT), the Honduran Land Transport Institute (IHTT), and three taxi organizations.
