“No tiene autoridad moral ni para convocar a una borrachera”: Movimiento Ciudadano declina apoyar frente opositor del PRI

Clemente Castañeda, coordinator of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) parliamentary group in the Mexican Senate, has formally declined an invitation to join an opposition front proposed by Alejandro Moreno, the national leader of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). The rejection comes in response to Moreno’s call for a coalition aimed at the 2027 and 2030 election cycles.

Castañeda characterized the PRI leadership as lacking the moral authority required to lead such an alliance, using strong language to dismiss the proposal. This decision underscores the ongoing political distance between Movimiento Ciudadano and the traditional opposition parties, reinforcing the party's strategy of maintaining independence from the PRI-led coalition framework.
