Mundhe also directed managements from across 1.08 lakh schools across Maharashtra to ensure that the over two crore school children have access only to healthy food from its canteens or face action. It also falls upon the managements to single out tuck shops outside their schools selling unhealthy food and report them to the FDA Maharashtra's FDA has banned unhealthy food sales within fifty meters of schools.

School authorities will face accountability for enforcing this new statewide order. The FDA commissioner emphasized strict implementation and parental awareness programs. Separately, the FDA forwarded an MPSC paper leak complaint for investigation.

Earlier, three Mumbai eateries lost food licenses due to hygiene violations.
