Nobel Prize, Israel Prize laureate, Ada Yonath, dies aged 87

Ada Yonath, a distinguished Israeli chemist and Nobel laureate, has died at the age of 87. Born in Jerusalem, Yonath maintained a long-standing professional affiliation with the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot throughout her career.

Yonath gained international recognition for her pioneering research on ribosome crystals, which earned her the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2009. Her contributions to science were also recognized domestically, as she was a recipient of the Israel Prize in Chemistry in 2002.
