Norman Manley march toward Manning Cup second round on maximum points

KINGSTON, Jamaica —High-riding Norman Manley High registered their third consecutive win, whipping Donald Quarrie High 6-0 in Zone C of the Manning Cup on Tuesday to move to a maximum nine points as they marched towards the second round. It was Norman Manley's third win following a 9-0 mauling of Ardenne and a 3-1 win over Edith Dalton James, taking their tally to 18 goals. With three sets of games remaining, Norman Manley are well on their way, and they are being followed by Edith Dalton James, who thrashed Pembroke Hall High 6-0 to sit second on six points.

Denham Town also stayed in the hunt for a top-three spot with a 2-1 win over lowly Ardenne High to move to six points. The inactive Kingston Technical High are fourth on four points but have a game in hand, having played only two games. Donald Quarrie, with a point, and pointless Pembroke Hall and Ardenne are basically out of contention.

Meanwhile, Zone A is shaping up to be a classic battle, with just three points separating the top five teams. Camperdown High lead with six points from two games and were inactive on Tuesday. Greater Portmore are in second spot on four points after a 2-2 draw with Holy Trinity, who remained in third also on four points.

Ascot High defeated Waterford High 3-2 to move to four points in fourth spot, while Bridgeport High whipped Jonathan Grant 4-1 to sit on three points in fifth. In Zone B, Innswood took charge of the group with a 3-0 win over St Mary's College to move top with seven points from three games. St Mary's College slipped to second on six points, while Jose Marti High moved into third also with six points following their 2-1 win over Papine High.
