NewzCincinnati Bengals legend and South Florida native Chad Johnson led a gas giveaway in his hometown on Wednesday.The giveaway, featuring the Miami Beach Senior High School graduate and sponsored by sports betting site DraftKings, took place at the Sunoco at 15290 NW Seventh Ave. in northwest Miami-Dade’s Biscayne Gardens area.About 3,500 gallons of gas were made available to local drivers. One of them, Anthony Celestino, said it usually costs him about $100 to fill his tank.He said the 45-minute wait was “worth it.”“Come get your 100 bucks,” Celestino said.

Two allies of former Democratic U.S. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick have been found in contempt of Congress.Leer en españolA vote was held in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, as North Miami Beach Mayor Michael Joseph and Hector Roos, who previously worked on Cherfilus-McCormick’s congressional campaigns, were accused of failing to comply with multiple subpoenas.
The matter has since been referred to the U.S. Justice Department in regard to possible criminal prosecution. Convictions for contempt of Congress can carry a fine of up to $100,000 and a one-year prison sentence.
Cherfilus-McCormick resigned from Congress in April, shortly before the House Ethics Committee was set to vote on her possible expulsion.That was after the committee found her guilty of 25 ethics and campaign finance violations. Cherfilus-McCormick is accused of stealing or misusing around $5 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds that were intended for a healthcare business run by her family. She previously pled not guilty to criminal charges related to the relief funds.
Tuesday’s vote was held verbally, meaning there are no records of the lawmakers’ individual votes. Local 10 News has reached out to Joseph for comment and will update this story if/when he responds.
