Norway's royal family gathers at King Harald's bedside as his condition worsens

King Harald V of Norway, Europe's oldest head of state, is in very serious condition after his health deteriorated while hospitalized in Oslo, according to announcements made by the Norwegian royal court on Thursday. The 89-year-old monarch has spent over a week receiving treatment for a rare blood condition.

In response to the worsening medical situation, members of the royal family have gathered at the king's bedside. Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon both canceled their scheduled public engagements to be at the hospital with the monarch.
