Norway’s new king pledges an oath of allegiance as his father lies in state

Norway has transitioned to a new monarch following the death of King Harald V. In the first major step of his reign, the new King Haakon has pledged an oath of allegiance.

The ceremony and transition take place while the late King lies in state at the Royal Palace in Oslo, where mourners are gathering to pay their final respects to the former monarch.
