‘Not as easy as one might imagine’: Poor visibility, wild animals hamper firefighting in Indonesia

Indonesian firefighting efforts in the Tanjung Puting National Park are being severely hampered by poor visibility and wild animals, according to a transcript of a meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto.

During the meeting, regional military commander Major-General Zainul Arifin outlined the operational challenges faced by emergency crews on the ground, noting that the fires have already affected more than 500 hectares of the national park.
