The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled the vetting of aspirants contesting its 2026 National Officers Elections for Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3, 2026. The announcement follows the close of nominations on Saturday, August 22, with a total of 50 nomination forms purchased across the nine national officer positions. In a statement signed by the Chairman of the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) of the NPP, Frederick Opare-Ansah noted that the purchase or collection of a nomination form does not automatically make an aspirant a valid nominee.

Aspirants are required to properly file their completed nomination forms and accompanying documents within the prescribed filing period, which runs from Sunday, August 23 to Saturday, August 29. The vetting process will then begin on August 31 and run through September 3. The schedule is as follows: Monday, August 31: National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer Tuesday, September 1: National Vice Chairperson Wednesday, September 2: National Organiser and National Youth Organiser Thursday, September 3: National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser The Committee said the specific times and other administrative arrangements for individual aspirants will be communicated through the appropriate channels.

NOEC also explained that a date for balloting has not yet been fixed because it wants the filing, vetting and appeals processes to be completed before determining the final field of candidates. It said fixing an election date prematurely could lead to postponement or suspension if an unresolved appeal affects the eligibility of an aspirant. The Committee therefore intends to announce one firm balloting date once the field of candidates has been sufficiently settled following the vetting and appeals processes.

It assured all aspirants that adequate notice would be given of the date, time, venue and procedure for balloting. The NPP has also urged aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes unity, mutual respect and confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes. NOEC said it remains committed to administering the 2026 National Officers Elections fairly, transparently and impartially, in accordance with the party’s constitution and applicable election regulations.
