New Penal Code: the 43 modifications that transform justice in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic's new Penal Code, designated as Law 74-25, officially enters into force on Monday, August 3. The legislation introduces 43 modifications intended to transform the national justice system, with the primary provisions taking effect immediately upon the date of enactment as stipulated by Article 393 and Article 30 of the modifying law.

While the majority of the code becomes enforceable on the designated date, the implementation of criminal liability for corporations has been granted a three-month grace period. This deferment marks a notable exception to the otherwise simultaneous rollout of the legal reforms.
