New Penal Code: the 43 modifications that transform justice in the Dominican Republic

Law 74-25, the new Penal Code of the Dominican Republic, officially enters into force on Monday, August 3, in accordance with its article 393. The accompanying modifying law takes effect simultaneously under article 30, with the sole exception of corporate criminal liability, the application of which has been deferred for a period of three months.

This legislative update introduces a total of 43 modifications aimed at transforming the national justice system. The phased implementation allows businesses a brief grace period to adjust to the new corporate accountability standards while the broader code takes immediate effect.
