New Penal Code: the 43 modifications that transform justice in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic’s new Penal Code, designated as Law 74-25, officially enters into force on Monday, August 3. The legislation introduces 43 significant modifications intended to transform the national justice system, as stipulated by the code's 393rd article.

While the majority of the new legal framework becomes effective immediately under Article 30, a specific provision regarding the criminal liability of corporations has been granted a three-month deferral. This transition period allows for the phased implementation of the updated penal standards across the country.
