New Penal Code: the 43 modifications that transform justice in the Dominican Republic

The new Dominican Republic Penal Code, designated as Law 74-25, officially enters into force on Monday, August 3, in accordance with Article 393 of the legislation. The implementation includes 43 specific modifications intended to transform the national justice system. These changes take effect simultaneously with the main code, as stipulated by Article 30.

While the majority of the legal provisions become active immediately, the implementation of criminal liability for corporations has been deferred for a period of three months. This staggered rollout marks a significant shift in the country's legal framework, establishing new standards for both individual and corporate accountability.
