New Yorkers were ‘lied’ to about toxic air after 9/11 attacks, says Mamdani

The New York City administration has released a trove of more than 170,000 pages of newly uncovered documents related to the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks. According to the files, toxic air quality was recorded in Manhattan immediately following the attacks, even as city officials publicly downplayed the health risks and assured the public the air was safe.

Commenting on the newly released records, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated that New Yorkers were lied to regarding the true condition of the air. Twenty-five years after the disaster, residents and affected individuals continue to seek a full accounting of the decisions made by officials during and after the crisis.
